At IAM RoadSmart, we believe education and awareness save lives. That’s why we’re so proud to have our ambassador, Shaun Whiter, and his friend and colleague Matt Himsworth, running the RunFest Silverstone Half Marathon on 23 November 2025 to raise vital funds and awareness for road safety.

Shaun’s story is one of extraordinary resilience. In 2016, while helping his friend change a tyre by the roadside, Shaun was struck by a dangerous driver who fled the scene. He survived against the odds, but the crash cost him both of his legs.

Since then, Shaun has shown remarkable determination. Fitness helped him through his recovery and today he continues to challenge himself, including completing the London Marathon. More importantly, Shaun has dedicated his energy to educating young people about the consequences of dangerous driving, working alongside Matt and Fraser Franks at B5 Consultancy. Together, they share powerful messages about risk, resilience, and responsibility on our roads.

When we invited Shaun to join RunFest Silverstone, it felt like the perfect platform to honour the memory of those – like brothers Arron and Ben Peak – who have tragically lost their lives to dangerous driving. And Shaun had one condition: Matt had to run it with him!

On 23 November, Shaun and Matt will take to the track at Silverstone, running to raise funds for IAM RoadSmart and to spread their message: every choice we make on the road matters, and together we can prevent tragedies.
